Hetao

The Hetao plane (河套 平原, Hetao Pingyuan ) is a narrow, fertile alluvial plain on the middle reaches of the Yellow River in China. Because of the developed irrigation it is also called " Hetao irrigation area " (河套 灌区, Hetao guanqu ). It consists of the Yinchuan - level (银川 平原, Yinchuan Pingyuan ) in Ningxia, the Houtao level (后 套 平原, Houtao guanqu ) and the Qiantao level (前套 平原, Qiantao guanqu ) in Inner Mongolia. It is about 25,000 square kilometers in size and is an important agricultural region. It forms with the Ordos Plateau, the southern part of the plateau of Inner Mongolia.

As Hetao (河套, Hetao ) the bending or curvature of the Yellow River ( Huang He) is in Chinese, called the Hetao region (河套 地区, Hetao Diqu ) of the upper part of the bend of the Yellow River in the autonomous regions of Inner Mongolia and Ningxia.
