Hettenschlag

Hettenschlag is a commune with 338 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the canton of Neuf- Brisach and is a member of the Association of Municipalities Pays de Brisach.

Geography

The village is situated in the Upper Rhine valley between the Rhine and Ill twelve kilometers southeast of Colmar and 13 kilometers southwest of Breisach am Rhein. The 7.21 km ² large municipality is mainly dominated by arable land ( hallways middle-lower and upper field, Bickartzug and Gemeindezugle ). In the southeast of the municipal area Hettenschlag has a share of 18 ha on a larger contiguous forest ( Forêt d' communale Hettenschlag ).

Neighboring municipalities are Appenwihr in the north, Wolfgantzen in the northeast, Weckolsheim in the east, Dessenheim the southeast, Sainte -Croix -en- Plaine in the south and west, and Logelheim in the northwest.

History

For the first time mentioned as Hettanerloh 792 owned by the Abbey Murbach, the history of the village lies largely in the dark. It is believed that Hettenschlag was abandoned during the 15th century. It was only in 1800 originated in the same place eight new farms.

Middle of the 19th century, the small Church of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary (L' église de la Présentation de la Vierge ) was built.
