Hetzles is a municipality in the district of Forchheim ( district government of Upper Franconia ) and a member of the administrative community Dormitz. Districts are Hetzles and Honings.

Geographical location

Hetzles is located between Nuremberg and Bamberg and is approx 30 km from both cities.

Located at the gateway to the Franconian Switzerland below the 549m high mountain Hetzleser, it is known as cherry village. For walking and cycling fans there are around the Hetzleser fortified mountain tours.

History

On the Hetzleser mountain, Table Mountain, there is a ring wall and some fixings section. The finds made ​​there are Hallstatt and laténezeitlich. 1109 Hetzles was first mentioned in records. Hetzles in present-day administrative region of Upper Franconia belonged in the Middle Ages and early Modern Domdechantei to the Bishopric of Bamberg. With the Imperial Diet of 1803 the city became part of Bavaria.

Religion

Hetzles is a Catholic embossed place. The village church is dedicated to St. Lawrence. The former fortified church was demolished and built from the stones of the present church.

The kindergarten in Hetzles is sponsored by the church.

With the arrival of new citizens, the share of Protestant citizens has increased, but for which there is no church of their own.

Policy

In the local elections of 2008, the first mayor Franz Schmidtlein ( citizens from Hetzles and Honings ) received 76.8 % of votes.

The split of silver and blue sign foot reminiscent of the noble family of Breitenstein, on the Hetzles was established in the 14th century. The crosier indicates originating from Hetzles Michael of Deinlein, who was from 1858 to 1875 Archbishop of Bamberg. Tradition and costumes

On two holidays of the year the costume life has its highlights in Hetzles: the Corpus Christi or Kränzelestag and at the fair on the third weekend in August. While on Corpus Christi, the character of the costume is fixed daily and solemnly the joyful secular meaning is carried in the costumes on display at the Kirchweihtag more.
