Hexarhodiumhexadecacarbonyl is a chemical compound of the rhodium from the group of metal complexes.
Production and representation
Hexarhodiumhexadecacarbonyl can be obtained by reaction of Dirhodiumtetraacetat with carbon monoxide and water
Are obtained, or by Druckcarbonylierung of rhodium (III ) chloride trihydrate with carbon monoxide.
Properties
Hexarhodiumhexadecacarbonyl is a violet brown (larger crystals appear black), air-stable crystalline solid with a surface gloss. It is insoluble in aliphatic solvents, slightly soluble in all other common solvents. To dilute acids and alkalis it is resistant. When heated above 200 ° C it begins to decompose. Of air forms above 220 ° C a glossy film on the metal surface.
Use
Hexarhodiumhexadecacarbonyl can be used as catalyst in the organic chemistry.
