Properties

4- hexylresorcinol is soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, benzene, ether and chloroform; the solubility in water is low.

Physiological effects

4- hexyl resorcinol irritates the skin and mucous membranes. It affects anesthetic, antiseptic and as a disinfectant against parasitic worms as anthelmintic.

Use

The substance is used as an antioxidant in fresh, frozen and deep-frozen crustaceans.
