Høgni Lisberg

Høgni Lisberg ( born June 7, 1982 in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands, is from Leirvík on Eysturoy ) is a Faroese musician who is considered one of the most talented young singer-songwriters in the country. As he pursues Høgni now his own solo career.

Life

Høgni was born in 1982 as son of Sorin Lisberg from Vágur and Hallbjørg Eliassen from Leirvík. His father is the son of Knut Lisberg, a cousin of Jens Oliver Lisberg (1896-1920) from Fámjin where Høgnis great-grandfather ( and Jens Oliver's uncle) Johan í Smiðjuni lived. Høgni grew up with his two younger sisters in Leirvík, 2004 where he lived until he moved to Copenhagen.

The age of nine he learned drums in the local music school and played as a drummer in various brass bands until he was 15 years old. In addition to this career as a drummer, he learned to play the guitar age of eleven. Here his father, but did not know more than three chords, and later a guitar player who was considered the best in Leirvík helped him. The rest he taught himself more or less even. When he was 12/13 years old, he wrote his own songs on the guitar, but was from the experience of hearing your own voice on tape so shocked that he let it go first. Only at 17 he began again, and made ​​a mental note now, as long to work on the songs until they are ready for his ears, which he did not succeed. Only when Høgni Lisberg was 20, he bought a hard disk recorder, with whom he got to know his voice and practiced until he could finally endure themselves. With his band mates Jens L. Thomsen, bassist of Clickhaze, he took in the spring of 2003, a demo, and from this arose the desire for a separate CD. In autumn 2003, Jens Thomsen took the debut album Most Beautiful Things by Høgni Lisberg in Stranda Bio on ( the empty cinema in the village Strendur ). Mixed, it was in Peter Gabriel's "Real Worl Studios " and was released in December of the year out with Kristian Blak Faroese label Tutl. All instruments on the CD played Høgni Lisberg itself

Since then he has concentrated on his career as a songwriter in the field of popular music and folk rock. For his live performances he draws on various musicians. Particularly well known in German-speaking Høgni in Switzerland is Key in St. Gallen because of " Faroe Connection" of the record store. Here he was, for example, a great article in the Sunday newspaper. But also in Germany and the U.S., he was already playing on the radio while counting in the whole of Scandinavia to the more famous musicians of his genre.

The second solo album Morning Dew came out in late 2005 and immediately became a bestseller in the Faroe Islands. It won the Planet Award 2006, the newspaper Sosialurin as the best album of the Faroe Islands, and was occasionally played in Belgium every day on the radio. For November 13, 2006 came the album out in Denmark, where Høgni now has a permanent resident. 2006 was also the year of the breakthrough in Iceland with concerts, TV and radio appearances.

The single release Learn To Ride On Waves finished in the Faroe Islands 3rd place in the overall charts of the Faroese radio Útvarp Føroya for 2006. It was a total of 15 weeks in the charts, including 5 weeks at number 1 is the only artist Høgni Lisberg was with represented another title in the top 20: Just Dig on 12th place
