HHA Type DT4

The two-car train 4 ( DT4 ) are rail vehicles that come in the Hamburg U- Bahn network used. As planned, they drive on the lines U1, U2 and U4, unscheduled or construction traffic on the U3. The vehicles were phased from 1988.

Development

The development of the underground type began in 1986. Initially, the manufacturer LHB supported ( dare structural part) and ABB ( technical equipment) on the experience gained in the DT3 -DAT. The new train should stand out by its futuristic design, reduced noise emissions, increased safety and greater cost-effectiveness of the older vehicles.

The first unit could be presented to the public on May 30, 1988, the use in passenger service began October 17 of the same year.

By 2005, a total of 126 two-car units were handed over in six series delivery.

Cart -planning

The DT4 are four-part vehicles that run on six bogies. The second and fifth bogie unpowered bogies, similar to Jacob bogies.

The body was created in lightweight steel construction. Trial basis for the fourth car of the unit 140 was rebuilt in the summer of 2010. The unit 140 was partly also from 2001 as a prototype for the interior design of the DT4.5 and DT4.6.
