Hi-NRG

Hi- NRG ( abbreviation of " High Energy" ) is a style of electronic dance music that was popular in gay clubs in the early 1980s. The music is characterized by mechanical beats, staccato sounds of techno and funk influences. There is the further development of Euro disco, which initiated the transition to dance music.

The term was first mentioned in the British music magazine Record Mirror in 1983, the then weekly published a Hi- NRG chart. The first "Hi- NRG " hit in the UK Top 100 was Hazell Dean's "Searching (I Got to Find a Man) " (proto Record) s Evelyn Thomas in 1984 in the eponymous musical style, which popularized in Germany a number-one hit with " High Energy", the direction strong. In 1985 and 86, the most famous songs of "Hi- NRG " were published era, these include Dead or alives You Spin Me Round ( Like a Record) (1985 UK # 1, U.S. # 11 ) and Bananaramas Venus (1986 U.S. No. 1, UK number 8 ). The most successful producer and artist of this style is Bobby ' O'. He is responsible for many earwigs in the 1980s.
