Hideyuki Kikuchi

Hideyuki Kikuchi (Japanese菊 地 秀 行, Hideyuki Kikuchi, born September 25, 1949 in Choshi ) is a Japanese author of science fiction and horror novels.

He attended Aoyama Gakuin University. His first novel Makai Toshi ( Shinjuku ) (魔界 都市<新宿> ), he wrote in 1982. On this followed numerous horror novels, including 17 novels about Kyuketsuki Hunter D. He also authored " Darkside Blues" and "Wicked City".

His Makai Toshi ( Shinjuku ) has also been adapted in several short manga and anime series. The latter were released by ADV Films under the titles Demon City Hunter, Demon City Shinjuku Demon Palace Babylon in the USA. A similar adaptation also learned Kyuketsuki Hunter D with two films: 1985 based on the first volume and 2000 based on the third tape. Outside of Japan, these were called Vampire Hunter D and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust published.

In 1983 he published the SF novel Kaze no Na wa Amnesia, which was adapted into a 1990 anime film and appeared in the United Kingdom and the United States under the title A Wind Named Amnesia. A re-release of 2005 of the novel together with Invader Summer was published in 2009 in an English translation (ISBN 1-59307-934-6 ).

His younger brother is the musician Naruyoshi Kikuchi.
