Hieromonk

A Hieromonachos (Greek Ἱερομόναχος; Ἱερος of - holy and μοναχός Monk ) is a priest ordained monk in the Orthodox Church ( ordained monk, monk priest).

In the Eastern Churches the title of a Igumen or Archimandrite can only be awarded to a priest monk. The number of priests is very low in an Orthodox monastery. Not all who have completed the study of theology to be ordained priests.
