Higashi Hongan-ji

The Higashi Hongan -ji (Japanese东 本 愿 寺) is the younger of the twin temples of the Hongan -ji, whose massive Miei - dō (御 影 堂, Founder's Hall ), and its main gate is often the first historic building, the Visitors from the station go to Kyoto to the north to get to the face. It is located in Shimogyo -ku district.

The Higashi Hongan -ji is the head temple of the Shinshu sect Jōdo Otani -ha, but mostly operates only under the name of this temple.

For some confusion attended the 1987, official renaming of the temple in Shinshu Honbyo, or Shinshu Mausoleum. He is, however, still considered Higashi Hongan -ji and inscribed. In 1996, a new Higashi Hongan -ji in Kyoto Higashiyama Ostbergen by Otani Korin was built the 25th abbot of the Buddhist sect.
