Higashine, Yamagata

Higashine (Japanese东 根 市, -shi) is a city in Yamagata Prefecture in Japan

The city is known for fruit trees, especially cherries and apples, and as " Fruit Tree Kingdom" (果树 王国, kaju Okoku ) refers. In the city the volume after Japan's most cherries are harvested. Specialty of the town is the variety Satōnishiki (佐藤 锦).

Geography

Higashine located south of Shinjō and north of Yamagata. The Ou mountain range lies to the east of the city. The Mogami flows in a south-north direction through the city.

History

Higashine was founded on 3 November 1958.
