High Authority of the European Coal and Steel Community

The High Authority of the European Coal and Steel Community ( ECSC) was established in 1952 executive organ of the Community. The High Authority had nine members, two each from France, Germany and Italy and one from the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. My seat was in Luxembourg and not Brussels, where the European Commission today has its headquarters.

With the entry into force of the Merger Treaty in 1967 the High Authority went on in the Commission of the European Communities.
