High on Fire
High on Fire is an American stoner metal band.
Band History
After the end of Sleep guitarist Matt Pike founded in 1999 together with George Rice and Des Kenzel the band High on Fire. Their first album, The Art of Self Defense, came not only in the music press gone bad, even the bankruptcy of their label prevented a success. With album two and three at a new label slowly grew their popularity, followed in 2005 Blessed Black Wings and the 2007 album Death Is This Communion eventually earned them the breakthrough. For the first time they landed in the hard rock charts and also in the official Billboard 200 was even more successful then Snakes for the Divine, which was released in spring 2010. It reached the Top 100 and at the hard rock albums with De Vermis Mysteriis 5th place from the year 2012, the band released their sixth album.
