High Steward of Scotland

The title Great Steward of Scotland, or High Steward of Scotland, is a title of the British heir to the throne. Owner is currently Charles, Prince of Wales.

The title was first awarded to Walter Fitzalan in the 12th century. His descendants became the Stewart family. The last High Steward ascended the Scottish throne in 1371. Then the title of the Duke of Rothesay was assigned, traditionally the title of the Scottish heir apparent. Thus, the Prince of Wales of the High Steward of Scotland, or even Prince and Great Steward of Scotland.
