Highway to Hell (English for " Highway to Hell" ) is the sixth studio album by the Australian hard rock band AC / DC. It was released in 1979 and was the big breakthrough for the band. It is the last AC / DC album with singer Bon Scott, who died in February 1980 and was replaced by Brian Johnson.

Background

Recordings

The production of the album began in January 1979 with demos and cut at Albert Studios in Sydney with producer Eddie Kramer. All songs were written by the band members Angus Young, Malcolm Young and Bon Scott. Especially Bon Scott worked harder this time to his texts. The final recordings were performed in the Roundhouse Studios in London in February 1979 in the Criteria Studios in Miami and in March to April. Highway to Hell is the first album of the band that is not created in the Australian Albert Studios. Eddie Kramer began as a producer in February, but was dismissed from the band before the end of the recording of the first song because the band to date, nothing brought him into being. By 1996, three of the original recordings were rediscovered and published on Bonfire 1997. Eddie Kramer was replaced by Robert John " Mutt" Lange, who already supported the Boomtown Rats and Graham Parker. Long helped especially Bon Scott to work on his singing style. Rolling Stone magazine listed the album at number 199 in 2003 its 500 best albums of all time.
