Hijo de la luna
Hijo de la luna (Spanish: " Child of the Moon" or "child of Luna" ) is a song that purports to tell an old legend. It is discussed how Luna, the mythical female figure of the Moon, comes to a human child. The written by José María Cano song was recorded by various musicians and bands in their own versions. The first published version is from Mecano, the most commercially successful in Germany recording is by Loona.

A gypsy Luna pleaded for a whole night to to give her a man. Finally, she was granted the request. You should get a dark-skinned gypsy to man. But Luna demanded in return. She wanted to have the first-born child. It is noted: A woman who is willing to give away her unborn child, only to not be alone, it does not love.
The child was born, but it was not dark-skinned, but bright as the fur of a stoat, with gray eyes, just a child of the moon. The Gypsy believed in witchcraft or adultery and stabbed his wife with a knife. The child he brought up a mountain and let it lie there.
The child remained there and lived on. In the full moon nights he was fine, and when it cried, Luna took (figuratively ) in its form of the moon off to the child to be a cradle.
The chorus Luna is accused: "Luna, do you want his mother but there is no one who loves you and makes you a wife, just tell us, silver moon, what do you want with a child from skin ( and bone)? "

The song was first published in 1986 by the group Mecano, in Germany as a single in 1989 and 1991, another time as " Dis moi lune d' argent " in the French edition of the album Aidalai. Later, the piece of Montserrat Caballé (1994 ) was covered. The best-known version in Germany comes from Loona from the year 1998. She was of 28 December 1998 to 11 January 1999, the number -one hit in Germany. At about the same time reached the title second place in the Swiss charts and number three in the Austrian charts.
Later the song, among others, by Sarah Brightman (2000 ), Mario Frangoulis (2002) and Belle Perez (2002) has been interpreted. More rocking variants derived from the Celtic rock band Lyriel (2006) and the Mors Principium Est metal bands (2003) and Stravaganzza (2006) and Haggard (2008). The former singer Ana Torroja Mecano took the title in 2006 once more in a new version. The Finnish singer Katra Solopuro published with their gothic metal group Katra in August 2008 on the album Beast Within a Finnish version called Kuunpoika .. 2010, the title appeared in a German version on the CD sung by Vicky Leandros Timeless, texted by Doris Decker and Max Hopp.
