Hilde Gerg

Mathilde ' Hilde ' Gerg (born 19 October 1975, in Lenggries, amtl. family name after marriage: Grassl ) is a former German ski racer.

Biography

Gerg won in her career total of six Olympic and World Championship medals: gold in slalom and bronze in combination with the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, World Cup bronze in super -G and combined 1997 World Cup bronze in the Super -G in 2001 and World Cup gold in the team competition in 2005. at the opening of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City she was flag bearer for the German delegation, but failed to win a medal in the downhill and Super -G.

In 1994, she became Junior World Champion, in the seasons 1996/1997 and 2001/2002, she took first place in the super- G World Cup. Throughout her career, she was able to win 20 World Cup victories.

On November 21, 2005, she declared after a serious injury to their retirement from competitive sport. Since January 2006 she has worked as co- commentator at Skiübertragungen on ZDF.

Hilde Gerg now lives in the town of Berchtesgaden. Since marrying Wolfgang Grassl in June 2000 she established the family name, in sports it occurs but further on under the name Gerg. She has a daughter (* 2007) and a son (* 2009). On 12 April 2010 her husband died of a heart attack.
