Hill 62 Memorial

The Hill 62 is a small hill on the southeastern edge of Ypres, which the First World War played a strategic importance. Today, the Hill 62 is a Canadian memorial.

History

The Hill 62 was within the Ypernbogens, that front line, the locally shifted only slightly over four years. The Hill 62 is located in the Sanctuary Wood on the top of Mount Sorrel. The Hill 62 was mainly held by the Canadian Expeditionary Force or torn during offensive operations beginning in June 1916 after the Second Battle of Ypres in the battle of Mont Sorrel the German army again. Also in the Third and Fourth Battle of Ypres played the hill a significant role.
