Hill o’ Many Stanes

The Hill o ' Many Stanes ( Scots: Thank hill with stones) is the largest and best-preserved multi-row stone setting in the county of Caithness in the north- east of Scotland. The rows of small stones are about 4000 years old and are located on the southern slope of a small hill. Approximately 200 stones in 22 rows run in a fan shape from north to south. In recent centuries, some stones are gone missing, originally there were probably about 600 stones in this Appendix. It is believed that the stone rows for gatherings or religious ceremonies were used. You could also be a solar or lunar calendar.
