Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life

Hillel, named after the Jewish scribes Hillel, which claims to be the world's largest Jewish university front organization. It was founded in 1923 at the University of Illinois with the aim to enrich the Jewish lives of its members, to create the basis for a possible " back - enrichment" of Judaism worldwide by those grantees.

Hillel operates primarily in North America and Eastern Europe. In Germany in 2012 the first Hillel hub was opened in Heidelberg. In Austria and Switzerland it is not present. It organizes religious, cultural and social events for Jewish students and university staff.

The club emerged from the B'nai B'rith and is funded by individuals, foundations, Jewish organizations and private sponsors.
