Hillsboro is a city in Loudoun County, Virginia. According to the census in 2000 living in Hillsboro 96 people.

Geography

Hillsboro (originally Hillsborough ) is located in Hillsboro Gap of the Blue Ridge Mountains in northwest Virginia. The city is located about 90 kilometers northwest of Washington, DC and 15 kilometers southeast of Harpers Ferry ( West Virginia). The Virginia Route 9 passes through the town.

History

1802 appointed Thomas Jefferson a postmaster for the newly opened post office and the town, which became known under the name of Hillsborough. The factories in Hillsboro flourished. 1831 were two flour mills, a saw mill and a woolen mill in operation.

Hillsboro was incorporated in 1880.

By the year 2000, there were no addresses for the buildings in Hillsboro; the approximately 60 buildings were assigned to the name of their owner or their purpose.

Policy

Author Byron Farwell has long been mayor of the city, next to him Sandy Muir and Alix Spaith.

Data obtained from the census in 2000, 96 inhabitants of Hillsboro lived in 39 households; among them were 28 families. The population density was 412 per km ². In the resort 41 residential units were recorded. In ethnic terms, the population was 97 % White.

The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size 2.75 persons.

The population was spread out with 20 % under 18 years, 8% 18-24 years 28 % 25-44 years, 30% 45-64 years and 14% 65 years or older. The median age was 41 years.

The median household income was $ 54,375, the median family income $ 71,875. The per capita income in Hillsboro was $ 44,455. Under the poverty line lived 10 % of the population.
