Hilltop Hoods

The Hilltop Hoods are an Australian hip hop group. They are originally from Adelaide. Its members are MC Suffa, MC Pressure and DJ Debris. They worked until 2009 under the Obese Records label, then switched to their own label Golden Era Records, and are often played on national radio.

Formation

The band was founded in 1991, when MC Suffa ( Matt Lambert ) and Pressure ( Daniel Smith) is met at Blackwood High School. Together with DJ Debris ( Barry Francis ), whom she met through a friend, they formed the band. In the late 1990s DJ Next years left the band to start a solo career. DJ Debris, which was mainly a producer, was the main DJ.

Their name comes from a suburb of Adelaide, among the locals known as Hilltop, where Suffa and Pressure lived.

Awards

This appeared in 2003 album The Calling was awarded Platinum status in Australia, of which two songs (The Nosebleed Section and Dumb Enough ) came in the Triple J Hottest 100, 2003 to the places 9 and 44

The album The Hard Road was released in Australia on 1 April 2006. The first single from this album ( Clown Prince ) was published in February 2006 and became the first top 40 hit single in the Australian ARIAnet singles charts.

The band received at the 3D World Dance Music Awards in 2001 and 2002 respectively nominated for Best Hip Hop Artist. 2002 gained the band members at Selbiger event the APRA Award in the category Best Emerging Group.

The Hilltop Hoods and DC Shoe brought on 1 February 2008 out a shoe. Thus, the Hilltop Hoods the first Australian band to have their own shoe.

2005, the initiative was established in collaboration with the Arts SA. It allows young Australian hip- hop artists for $ 3,000 to take your own CD.
