The Hils is up to 480.4 m above sea level. NN high, wooded Mittelgebirgszug the Lower Saxony highlands in the Lower Saxon counties wood Minden, Hildesheim and Northeim ( Germany ).

Geography

Location

The Hils, who belongs within the Lower Saxon highlands to Leinebergland or Weser -Leine Bergland, is approximately in the quadrangle of the localities Duingen, Delligsen, Einbeck and Eschershausen. It is located between Duingen and Coppengrave in the north, Hohewarte, Hohenbüchen, Delligsen and Varrigsen in the east, Ammensen and Stroit the southeast, Wenzen, Eimen, Mainzholzen, Vorwohle and Lenne in the south to southwest, Wickensen, Lumber, Lumber - Ith and Capellenhagen in the west and Fölziehausen, Wallensen and Thüste in the northwest. Central places are Grünenplan and Kaierde. The uninhabited forest areas of the Hils lie partly in the four unincorporated areas Eimen, Eschershausen, Grünenplan and Wenzen.

The Hils is located between the central mountain or mountain ranges Ith in the northwest, Duinger mountain in the north, Reuberg, Steinberg and soda in the east, in the southeast Hube, Elfas in the south, Homburg Forest in the southwest and Vogler in the West.

In the north- western foothills of the Hils is located on the Haidkopf Duinger Lakeland, which is drained by the end northeastward flowing in the line Saale. In the east, the landscape of hils in the context of Hille and Red falls, both headwaters of the Glene, toward the area between Duinger mountain runoff and Reuberg this leash influx from. In its central part, flows towards the east of Glasebach for springing in its southern part Wispe which drains the landscape through a valley between Steinberg and soda in the leash. The south part of the Hils drain the Stroiter Bach and the Hillebachstausee to its confluence Krumme water that runs southward into the Ilme which in turn tends eastward leash. The short streams in the west by Hils drained by the Lenne northwestward to the Weser.

In the northern part of the Hils is the Duinger Forest, in the central part of the State Forestry Green Plan and the south of the state forest Einbeck.

Geology

The Hils consists predominantly of the Hils glauconitic sandstone of the Lower Cretaceous. The existing of this material, inclined at tertiary layer packets have resisted as morphological clingstones ablation.

Mountains

The highest elevation in the Hils is the 480.4 m high Mere cell, the second highest in the not far distant from this Big Sohl (472 m ) on which the observation tower Wilhelm- Raabe - tower stands. About 900 meters south of it is located near the national road 484 in memory of the German writer Wilhelm Raabe Wilhelm Raabe monument.

Transport and Hiking

East of the B leads 3 past the Hils, in the south of the B 64 and to the west and northwest, the B 240 With its central part extends approximately in the southwest-northeast direction, the national road 484, the Eschershausen on the B 64 in the west through Lumber and Grünenplan connects to the situated beyond the hills Reuberg and Steinberg Alfelder district Gerzen on the B 3 in the East.

South past the Hils Lenne Stroit runs in their particular section in Hillebachtal in west-east direction of the railway line Altenbeken - Kreiensen. From this the largely disused railway line of Vorwohle - Emmerthaler Railway Company branches off, passing the Hils in Lennetal west between Lenne and Eschershausen.

Numerous hiking trails lead through the Hils, including the section between Lumber, Lumber - Ith, Wilhelm- Raabe - tower, Bare cell Grünenplan and Gerzen the European long-distance hiking trail E11.
