Hilversum Railway Station is the largest train station in the Dutch city of Hilversum. The station is used by approximately 21,000 people a day ( 2005). He is a central hub in urban public transport. At the station, at national regional and long-distance trains as well as the cross-border Intercity from Amsterdam to Berlin.

History

The first station was opened on 10 June 1874, the railway line Amsterdam - Zutphen. From 1997, held no intercity trains more at the station, as this had only two platforms, which he could not cope with the increased volume of intercity trains on the track. In mid-2006, a third platform was built. In 2007, the tracks followed 4 and 5 on the new platform. Since 2007, now also hold back the Inter -city trains in Hilversum. The plans for the present station, came from the Dutch Architect Joost van Santen. Its present appearance was the station in 1992.
