Hilyard M. Brown

Hilyard M. Brown ( born February 16, 1910 in Lincoln, Nebraska, † 12 October 2002 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American art director and production designer, who at the Oscar ceremony 1964 Oscar for Best Production Design for the color film Cleopatra (1963 ) won.

Life

Brown began his career as an art director and production designer in the film industry in Hollywood in 1934 with the film Kentucky Kernel and took part in the scenic features of ninety films.

At the Academy Awards in 1964 he won with John DeCuir, Jack Martin Smith, Herman A. Blumenthal, Elven Webb, Maurice Pelling, Boris Juraga, Walter M. Scott, Paul S. Fox and Ray Moyer Academy Award for Best Production Design in a color film, namely for the epic film Cleopatra (1963 ) by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, starring Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and Rex Harrison in the lead roles.
