Himmelpforten

Gates of Heaven ( Low German: Sky Porten ) is a municipality in the Lower Saxony Oldendorf - gates of heaven in the district of Stade. In addition to the main town gates of heaven are also the places Kuhla and Breitenwisch to the community.

History

1255 pulled the Cistercian monastery of Rhaden at Lamstedt after the place was then called the Eulsete, and called himself henceforth Porta Coeli, which as a Low German or High German sky Porten Himmelspforten passed Germanized as a name to the place. The train of Cistercian nuns was reproduced on the occasion of the 750th anniversary in 2005.

The coat of arms of the municipality Himmelspforten shows on a blue background a golden, Gothic gate, where a silver -clad abbess stands with golden crosier.

Traffic

Through gates of heaven leads the federal highway 73, which connects the town with Stade and Hamburg. Himmelspforten also has a railway station on the route of the Lower Elbe Railway between Cuxhaven and Hamburg.
