Biography

1998 - 2007

Founded in 1998 published Himsa the following year in August, the EP Himsa, and in November the debut album groundbreaking ceremony via Revelation Records.

After the band in November 2001, the EP Death Is Infinite resumed, it was taken by Prosthetic Records.

In June 2003, the second studio album Courting Tragedy And Disaster, followed by a long tour of the U.S. and Europe followed appeared.

The third studio album Hail Horror, which was recorded in Denmark in 2005, appeared in February 2006 with a one year delay. This was followed by tours with bands like Darkest Hour and The Acacia Strain. After Himsa with Parkway Drive toured Australia in November 2006, they signed in December 2006 a record deal with Century Media Records.

In April 2007 the recordings for the fourth studio album began Summon in Thunder. It has already released five months later via Century Media.

Resolution ( 2008)

16 August 2008 Himsa announced the dissolution of the band. Bassist Derek Harn said:. " After over 10 years, four studio albums and countless tours, the last three years have been quite resistant to the crisis After we have sacrificed everything to ensure the survival of the band, it's now time that we let it go we. have a great, reportedly done our best, CD ( Summon in Thunder ), we have a great label, we get along, we toured and we are doing well. everything is good. and we leave it. Music style

On the EP Himsa the band's music was still largely influenced by hardcore punk. On the first studio album Groundbreaking Ceremony of the music style was more towards metalcore and 2003 came on the second album Courting Tragedy and Disaster still influences from the melodic death metal added. These two styles had existed until its dissolution in the music of Himsa.

Band name

The band name Himsa is derived from the term ahimsa, which literally means non -violence. The letter A is the concept of Ahimsa, the inverse meaning of Himsa, thus means Himsa about violence or hurting.
