Hindko also Hindku or Hindkowan (Persian هندکو, Persian هندکوان, Urdu ہندکو, in the meaning " language of the Indians ") is an Indo-Aryan dialect group, which is counted to Lahnda group.
Hindko dialects are spoken among others ( 5-6 million) inhabitants in the former Hazara Division of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province; the majority of the speakers belong to the ethnic Hazara. This Division, with headquarters Abbottabad has five districts. Hindko is not recognized as an official language, lingua franca is therefore Urdu.
