Hindlingen

Hindlingen is a commune of 640 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the community association Vallée de la Largue.

Geography

The community Hindlingen the Sundgau lies in the valley of the Largue, eight kilometers north of the Swiss border and 23 kilometers southeast of Belfort Friesen between the southeast and Strueth in the northwest.

History

Excavations finds from the Neolithic period have been made to prove that the municipality was populated at that time. 735 the village was first documented as Chuntilingas ( " at Huntilos people " ) mentioned. From 1324 to 1648 it belonged to the county Pfirt, after that of Hapsburg. In World War Hindlingen was partially destroyed.

Demographics

In the nearly 40 years from 1968 to 2007, the population has doubled Hindlingens.

  • The Church of Sainte -Anne was built in 1900. Until the construction of this church Hindlingen belonged to the parish of friezes. However, standing in their place before a gothic chapel which was built before 1441.
  • Half-timbered houses from the 17th and 18th centuries
  • The town hall was built in 1845, at that time it also served as the village school.

Economy

The image of the church is dominated by forests, meadows, farmland and ponds. The main economic activities are forestry, farming, fruit growing and farming of fish and domestic cattle.
