Hinds County, Mississippi

The Hinds County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. The Management seats ( County Seats ) are Jackson, who is also the capital of Mississippi and was named after Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States, and Raymond. It is therefore one of the ten counties in Mississippi that have two county administrations.

History

The Hinds County was formed on February 12, 1821 from parts of the Choctaw country. It was named after Thomas Hinds, a member of the Congress of the United States.

Historical buildings

To the west of Bovina on the border of Warren County leads the Big Black River Railroad Bridge over the Big Black River. The bridge has been registered since 1988 in the NRHP.

In Raymond is the historical Peyton House (also known as Waverly ). The house is located just north of Raymond at the Clinton Road. Built in 1831 the building was registered on 3 October 1973 at the NRHP.
