Hinrichshagen is a municipality in the district of Hagen Peene Mecklenburg Lake District Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). Until the end of 2011 it was an independent municipality with the districts Forsthof and Levenstorf.

Geography

Hinrichshagen in the Mecklenburg Lake District is situated between the lake and the Müritz Malchiner. The wooded area is part of the Natural Park Mecklenburg Switzerland and Lake Kummerow. Near Levenstorf is the perch Moor, an approximately 30 -acre nature reserve. The perch Moor is a flat over stautes boiler Moor with islands and landing areas. Here, many amphibians and reptiles have their habitat, further, it is the breeding ground of fish eagles.

History

Agriculture and forestry continue to shape Hinrichshagen. The Russian gas giant Gazprom is planning the largest underground natural gas storage in Europe Hinrichshagen. Here five percent of Germany's annual demand for natural gas could be stored in approximately 650 meters depth. In summer 2008, extensive surveys and test drilling took place.

Hinrichshagen is a little out of the national transport links. About Schwinkendorf and Moltzow the main road is reached 108, the town of Waren (Müritz) about Alt Schönau. In (Müritz) goods around 17 kilometers away, is the nearest railway station with connections to Berlin, Rostock and Parchim ). The Levenstorf station was opened in 1879 at the railway goods Malchin.
