Hinstin

The SA of the Établissements Hinstin Jacques was a French manufacturer of automobiles.

Company History

Jacques Hinstin was a partner of André Citroën. In 1920 he founded the company in Maubeuge and began production of automobiles. The brand name was Hinstin. There were links to SUP, Automobiles Grégoire and Guilick. 1928 production ended.

Rolling stock

The first model was developed in collaboration with SUP A four-cylinder engine with OHV valve timing and 1098 cc capacity was responsible for the drive. The engine was front mounted in the vehicle and drove through a propeller shaft to the rear axle. The gearbox had three gears. On a differential has been omitted. The open cockpit had room for two people. With the dissolution of S.U.P. also ended the production of this model. Overall, this model originated from about 700 copies. Three of these vehicles received a streamlined body and took part in a 1921 car race at Le Mans.

A vehicle of this make was to visit the car museum Jean Tua in Geneva in 1999.
