The Hinterbach is about 9.5 km long right source stream of the Finke creek. The map series of the Hessian Ministry for the Environment, Climate Change, Agriculture and Consumer Protection WFD in Hesse is conflicting information about whether it has the same waters code 238968 as the Finke river.

Course

The Hinterbach arises in the Odenwald north of Beerfelden - Olfen, Red within the Fauna-Flora- water habitat of Olfen on the border of the district forest -Michel Bach Affolterbach and Beerfelden - Olfen. It first flows in a southerly direction, his main flow direction, which he retains substantially to its confluence with the Falk buttocks Erbach, through a wet meadow. After passing under the Oak Street runs on the eastern outskirts of Olfen along and crosses the village. Sight

In Rothenberg Hinterbach is the last remaining hydraulic ram of the Odenwald.
