Hintere Eggenspitze

The rear harrow tip ( Italian name: Cima Sternai ) is a 3443 meter high mountain at the beginning of Ilmenkamms the Ortler Alps, a mountain range of the Southern Eastern Alps. It lies on the border between the Italian provinces of Trentino and South Tyrol. To the northwest, northeast, southeast and southwest of the tip sends distinct, partially accessible burrs. The mountain appears from the east seen as a rock and ice pyramid, through their easy accessibility of the Highest hut ( Rifugio Umberto Canziani, also Grünseehütte ) from is committed in the summer often. In winter ski tours sophisticated lead to the summit. The rear harrow peak was first climbed on July 30, 1868 by the cartographer and explorer Julius Payer Alps and the mountain guide, Johann Pinggera from Solda ( soldiers ) on the west wall.

Location

North of the rear harrow tip lies the glacier Weissenbrunn addition ( Vedretta Fontanabianca ), the formerly vast glaciers in the east, south and west are fused together by the Global warming to meaningless firn. Adjacent Mountains are in the course of the Nordwestgrats about one kilometer away 3347 meters high peak Lorch ( Cima Lorie ) and the South East Front harrows peak ( Cima Sternai Meridional ) with 3385 meters of altitude. The einbiegende east northeast ridge runs from the approximately two kilometers away Grünsee (Lago Verde), a reservoir, the water level is at 2529 meters altitude. The nearest major settlement is the village of Gand ( Ganda ) at Martell (South Tyrol ) in the Martell valley, a side valley of the Vinschgau Valley, which lies just over 8 ½ miles in a straight line in a northerly direction. Solda is located about 15 kilometers to the west.

Bases and Ascension

The path of the first ascent in 1868 resulted from the south Malga di Pra Saènt at 1784 meters above sea level along the mountain stream in a northerly direction to the then still more extensive glacier Vedretta di Sternai and through the west wall to the summit. At 3.45 broke on one and took about 6 ½ hours for the ascent. The Lorcherspitze, the rear nuns peak ( Cima di Rabbi, 3256 m ), nor was mounted in the connection, and by 18 clock they reached the Sallentspitze ( Cima di Saènt, 3215 m). The descent led down into the Val Martello.

Today's normal route to the rear harrow tip leads as high tour with suitable equipment and glacier experience of the Grünseehütte, located on the northeastern shore of Green Lake at 2561 meters above sea level, from north around the lake in a westerly direction to the White Brunner addition. From there, the road to a dip of harrows peak Nordwestgrats and then in a south-easterly direction over the fissured hanging northwest ridge runs to the summit. Walking time is according to the literature 3 to 4 hours. Other trails lead over the northeast ridge, since 1902 over the southeast ridge of difficulty UIAA II at a Eisneigung of 30 °, and by the west wall, the way the first Steiger, in the climbing difficulty UIAA II base for this route is the Rifugio Silvio Dorigoni to 2437 meters at the upper end of the Val di Saènt.
