Hirohiko Araki

Hirohiko Araki (Japanese荒木 飞 吕 彦Araki Hirohiko; born June 7, 1960 in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan) is a Japanese manga artist.

Biography

In 1980 Araki at Shueisha Publishing at junior competition of Shonen Jump, the most widely read manga magazine, and won in this with the short story Buso Poker the Tezuka Award. Originally, he wanted to apply the Shōnen Sunday magazine in Shogakukan, but was put off by the size of the publishing building. He then began working for the Shōnen Jump, in which he 1984-1985 with Bao Raihōsha scored a success. The approximately 350 -page sci-fi series has been implemented as an original video animation (OVA ). Bao Raihōsha is about a young man who develops superhuman powers in difficult situations thanks to one Parasites, which has been implanted into his brain and thus is almost immortal.

Since 1987, the designer is working on the story cycle Jojo no Kimyō na Boken. This series was published until 1999, Shōnen Jump and comprises five sections with a total of 63 anthologies. In 2000, the sixth part of the cycle as a separate series, Stone Ocean, started, which was summed up in 17 anthologies. The seventh part, Steel Ball Run, was published in 2004 as first in Shōnen Jump, but then switched to sister magazine Ultra Jump, which is aimed at an older target audience. The series ended on April 19, 2011 and includes 24 anthologies, whose last will be released on June 3, 2011. The eighth part, JoJolion, launched on 19 May 2011 as well in Ultra Jump, whose edition was sold out and had to be reprinted.

Jojo no Kimyō na Boken tells of the never -ending struggle between the Joestar family and the opponent Dio. With numerous references to Western pop music, with constantly changing scenes and with progressive action and generational change in Japan, the series was very successful. It includes far more than 15,000 pages that have been published in over 100 anthologies, and has over 70 million copies. In 2004 she was nominated for the Seiun price.

On the occasion of the 2009 exhibition, held Le Louvre invite la bande dessinée the Louvre Araki drew the manga Rohan au Louvre (岸辺 露伴 ルーヴル へ 行く) around the figure of Rohan Kishibe, a mangaka of Jojo no Kimyō na Boken. The manga was published on April 9, 2010 in the original French edition, later in three chapters in Ultra Jump, and on 27 May 2011 as a Japanese anthology.

His work is translated into French, English, Malaysian, Italian, Thai, Chinese and Korean.
