Hiromi Uehara

Hiromi Uehara (Japanese上原 ひろみ, Hiromi Uehara, born March 26, 1979 in Hamamatsu ) is a Japanese jazz pianist.

Hiromi received since the age of six classical piano lessons, with their teacher also promoted their understanding of jazz. As a twelve year old she appeared for the first time with an orchestra. At 14, she played with the Czech Philharmonic. At 17, she met Chick Corea and played with him an improvisation for two pianos one. After further experience, including in the composition of music for advertising Nissan, she went in 1999 to the United States to study at the Berklee School of Music in Boston. Among her mentors at Berklee College Richard Evans, the orchestration was taught. Her debut at the record company Telarc was funded by Ahmad Jamal. Richard Evans co-produced her first album, which she recorded before her graduation and reached gold status in Japan in 2003.

Since their second album Brain the musician is accompanied on tour usually of the Slovak drummer Martin Valihora and British bassist Tony Grey. Both musicians she knows from her student days at Berklee. For the albums Time Control and Beyond Standard they were influenced by the guitarist David " Fuze " Fiuczynski, known as a leader of the group Screaming Headless Torsos, accompany.
