Hironori ÅŒtsuka

Hironori Ōtsuka (Japanese大 冢 博 纪, born June 1, 1892 in Shimodate, Japan, † 29 January 1982), founder of the Karate style of Wado - Ryu. He is the only karateka, the rank Meijin was awarded.

Short Biography

Hironori Ōtsuka was the son of the physician in internal medicine Ōtsuka Tokujiro. He attended middle school and began at the age of 13 years Shinto - Yoshin - ryū (神道 扬 心 流) at Tatsuo Matsuoka and Nakayama Tatsusaburō to train. After school, he attended the Faculty of Commerce, Waseda University in Tokyo and then worked as a banker at the Kawasaki Bank.

1922 Ōtsuka Hironori began his karate training with Funakoshi Gichin and from 1936 he took the leading teaching among other things, the karate club at Tokyo University. At this time he developed his style Wado - Ryu and had to register this on April 1st, 1939 at Dainippon Butokukai.

Hironori Ōtsuka was in 1972 awarded by the IMAF Kokusai Budoin the rank of Meijin.
