Geography

Geographical location

Hirrlingen is located approximately nine kilometers southwest of Rottenburg am Neckar, about nine kilometers north- west of Hechingen at the edge of the protected landscape Rammert. Shares of nature reserves Espen hole Rear dump and Kapfhalde are on the boundary Hirrlingen.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the village and the houses Hirrlingen Upper Mill and Lower Mill.

Within the area are several Outbound, now-defunct villages; Boss in the east of the district was named in 1289 as the boss Husen first time and was uninhabited well before 1332. In today's hallway Harbach was in the first half of the 12th century mentioned as Marpach town Marbach.

History

The first mention was on a document of the monastery of All Saints in Schaffhausen from the year 1091.

Around 1100 came into historical sources, the Lords of Hirrlingen in appearance, which were located in and around Hirrlingen, in the Swabian and Alsatian room or there had property and rights. After the extinction of Hirrlinger their goods arrived in Hirrlingen in the 13th century to the Counts of Hohenberg, so that the security given by the Lords of Ow ( Obernau ). Through acquisitions in the 15th and 16th centuries, the Ower lordship over Hirrlingen began to emerge, which was as a manor part of the front- Austrian provincial government. The Lords of Ow built 1557/1558, the Hirrlinger castle, parish church of St. Martin 1606 witnessed a St. Sebastian Brotherhood in the 18th century. From a community of religious women in the 14th century, a Dominican convent developed. Also the Bebenhausen had temporarily in possession Hirrlingen.

The Hirrlinger line of the Lords of Ow died out in 1709, its successor ruled, inter alia, the Counts of Attems 1749-1790 on Hirrlingen. The site was part of Württemberg in 1805, the Dominican monastery secularized in 1789, the castle in 1821 sold to the community Hirrlingen which uses it as a town hall.
