Hirvli ( German Hirwli ) is a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community Kuusalu ( Kuusalu vald ). It is in Harju County ( Harrien ).

Description and History

The place was first mentioned in documents in 1241 under the name Irmari. The village now has 91 inhabitants ( 2012). The area is 1151.41 hectares.

After the German occupation of Estonia Communist politician Neeme Ruus and Oskar Cher operated on the farm belonging to Hirvli Paju an illegal printing and a transmitting station. However, they were tracked down, arrested on September 12, 1941 and executed by the Germans in early June 1942 in Tallinn.
