Historicity

Historicity is an ambiguous term.

He referred

• Something at a certain time before seen ( really historically );
• Enter the satisfaction therefore, only to determine something of the past ( historical only );
• Something of the past and yet Effective ( historically effective)
• A basic feature and the basic condition of humanity in contrast to the natural being.

The author of the concept of historicity as a specific dimension of human beings are called:

• Giambattista Vico: historicity, that all human reality has its history as exposed fact.
• Hegel ( occasionally, eg in its legal and world history )
• But especially Dilthey

The reflection of this concept of historicity is the task of the philosophy of history and the history didactics.

While the term in Jaspers still remains in the living philosophical tradition in the sense of historical contingency, he learns his decisive Neuprägung by Heidegger. Since then, he is a central concept in existential philosophy, phenomenology and hermeneutics ( Gadamer ).

While the historicity is related to the problem of historical relativism in Dilthey, it is hermeneutic (also) seen as a means " to overcome the historical relativism ( historicism ). "
