Hita (Japanese日 田 市, - shi) is a city located in Oita Prefecture in Japan.

History

In the chronicle of Bungo no Kuni Fudoki Hita is mentioned early on. At the transition to the Middle Ages, the rulers brought the Okura founded Jigenzanyoko Shrine of economic growth. In the former main shrine Ono Oimatsu Tenmansha you can still see the wooden structures from the Muromachi period in the 14th century.

The city has long been under the direct rule of the shoguns.

The old Hita became a town on 11 December 1940.

On 22 March 2005, the old Hita Nakatsue (中 津 江村, -mura ) and Kamitsue (上 津 江村, -mura ), and the cities Ōyama (大 山 町, machi concluded with the villages Maetsue (前 津 江村, -mura ), ) and Amagase (天 瀬 町, machi ) to the new city Hita together.

  • Amagase - Onsen (天ヶ瀬 温泉 街) has been known for 1500 years for its five lying in the riverbed public open -air baths.
