Hitchcock County, Nebraska

Hitchcock County is a county located in the U.S. state of Nebraska. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Trenton, named after the city of Trenton in New Jersey.

Geography

The County is located in southwest Nebraska, adjacent to the state of Kansas and has an area of 1861 square kilometers, of which 22 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Red Willow County, Dundy County, Hayes County and Frontier County

History

Hitchcock County was formed in 1873. It was named after U.S. Senator Phineas Warren Hitchcock.
