Hiteswar Saikia

Hiteshwar Saikia ( Assamese: হিতেশ্বৰ শইকিয়া, Hiteśbar Śaikiẏā; b. 1934; † 22 April 1996) was an Indian politician and Chief Minister of Assam.

Biography

Was Saikia, a member of the Indian National Congress (INC ), was born on February 27, 1983 the first Chief Minister of the northern Indian state of Assam and held this office until 23 December 1985. Prafulla Kumar Mahanta was succeeded by the Asom Gana Parishad. 1986 he was appointed Lieutenant Governor of Mizoram. During his term of office lasting until 1989, the Office 1987 has been upgraded to the governor. After a period of President's rule in Assam, he was again on June 30, 1991 Chief Minister of Assam and held this office until his death. His successor was initially Bhumidhar Barman and then again in May 1996 PK Mahanta.
