Hitomi Niiya

Hitomi Niiya (Japanese新 谷 仁 美, Niiya Hitomi, born February 26, 1988 in soybeans) is a Japanese marathon runner.

In 2005, she won at the IAAF World Youth Championships in Marrakech bronze over 3000 m.

Already at the age of 18, she started for the first time on the 42,195 - km - distance and immediately won the Tokyo Marathon 2007 in 2:31:02 h In the following year she was second in the Hokkaido Marathon, and in 2009 it was eighth at Nagoya Marathon.

At the World Cross Country Championships 2010 in Bydgoszcz, she launched after three appearances as a junior for the first time in adult races and came on the 31st place. At the Olympic Games 2012 in London, she finished ninth in the 10,000 meters.

Hitomi Niiya is coached by Yoshio Koide and starts since 2006 for corporate team of Toyota Industries.
