Hitonari Tsuji

Hitonari " Jinsei " Tsuji (Japanese辻 仁 成, Tsuji Jinsei Tsuji Hitonari or; born October 4, 1959 in Hino, Tokyo Prefecture) is a Japanese writer, musician, photographer and director.

Life and work

For his novels Hitonari Tsuji won awards including 1997 with the Akutagawa Prize, Japan's most important literary award, and in 1999 the French Prix Femina Etranger ( for the novel " Le Bouddha blanc "白 仏, Hakubutsu ). As a rock singer Tsuji became known as the frontman of the group " Echoes". Tsuji is married to actress Miho Nakayama and lives with his wife and son Juto since 2003 in Paris. His debut as a writer, he was in 1989.

His films were shown, among others at the Film Festival in Venice, and Berlin ( 2001), include " Hotoke " (ほとけ, 2001) and "filament" (フィラメント, 2001). In German so far his novels appeared " Waiting for the Sun" and "The White Buddha".
