The HK areena ( former name Elysée Arena, Typhoon Arena, Turkuhalli ) is a multi-purpose hall in the Finnish city of Turku. It is mainly used for hockey and is the home arena of TPS Turku.

History

The building was opened in 1990 as Typhoon Arena and can accommodate 11,820 spectators. It is 135 meters long, 110 meters wide and 40 meters high. In addition to the Hockey Hall is also used for concerts and operas.

The HK areena was indeed designed by the company Casa Grande Haroma Oy and cost 145 million Finnmark ( 24.4 million euros ). Of the city of Turku paid 95 million Finnmark (16 million euros ).

The name Elysée Arena received the hall in the summer of 1994 after a renovation, when it was named after its main sponsor. In the years 1996 and 1997, the hall has been expanded with an annex containing a second input 28 new VIP boxes and space for a new restaurant and a new porch.
