HK Triglav Kranj

The HK Triglav ( Hokeyski Club Triglav, Triglav Kranj often HK ) is a Slovenian ice hockey club from Kranj, who currently plays in the Inter- National -League.

History

The club was founded in 1968 and played for many years in the second power stage of the Yugoslav ice hockey. In the seventies, the championship was won several times, but especially financial problems prevented a promotion to the top league in the country. At this time the club still played on natural ice, until the year 1981, the first artificial ice rink was completed. After the 1985/86 season, as the second division for the third time could be obtained, followed by a difficult period, as re financial problems prevented the rise and an exodus of key players stopped. Only after Slovenia's independence, the situation stabilized. In the 1995/96 season came with the fourth rank in the Slovenian Hockey League the best ever placement, what the club was able to repeat a year later again.

In the 2006/07 season the club also participated in the group B of the Inter League in part, a multi-national ice hockey competition, and finished there behind the farm team of HK Jesenice in second place after the regular season. However, the team was eliminated in the semifinals against the previously placed inferior KHL Mladost Zagreb.

The youth team of the club won the Slovenian junior championship in the 2002/03 season.

Venue

The home ground of the club is the newly erected in 2007 Arena Zlato polje, which offers 220 spectators.
