HMAS Harman

HMAS Harman is an intelligence and logistical system of the Royal Australian Navy ( RAN). It is located in the Australian capital Canberra. The plant was built in the late 1930s.

History

The plant was completed on 20 April 1939 and has received the radio operation on 22 December 1939.

In addition to the task of data transmission, takes HMAS Harman administrative and logistical tasks for the Navy personnel in the Australian Capital Territory and southern New South Wales. The facility also contains a supply depot for the Australian Army and the Royal Australian Air Force.

The Sydney Morning Herald named HMAS Harman as one of four monitoring devices in Australia next to Pine Gap, Shoal Bay and Geraldton / Kojarena that use the software XKeyscore to collect data for the NSA.
