HMAS Tobruk (L 50)

The HMAS Tobruk, a ship of Tobruk class is a landing ship of the Royal Australian Navy, which was put into service on 23 April 1981. It was named after the Libyan city of Tobruk.

The ship has a displacement of 5800 tons and is 127 meters long. The current commander is Commander Peter Thompson. The HMAS Tobruk is used for the transportation of military goods and soldiers and also has two helicopter platforms. It has a speed of 16 knots and is powered by two diesel engines.
